In the acacia thornveld of Namibia, a Swallow-tailed bee-eater waits with quiet precision.

It hunts on the wing, catching bees and wasps mid-air, returning to its perch to remove the sting before feeding.

Leopard moms do it alone. No pride. No backup. Just her and the cubs.

She hides them in thick bush or rocky crevices, moving them often so nothing catches their scent.

Cubs are born blind. Tiny. Helpless. For the first weeks, the world is just warmth and milk.

By 6 weeks they’re already tasting meat.
By 3 months they’re following her on hunts, stumbling, watching, learning the art of patience.

Most cubs don’t make it to adulthood. The wild is beautiful, but it’s not soft.

They stay with her nearly two years.
Then one day she becomes distant, even harsh, forcing them to find their own territory.

Love in the wild looks like this.

Here we are, under the Namibian sun.
A male leopard rests in the shade, solitary and territorial, roaming wide lands, his rosettes unique like fingerprints.
Nearby, two mountain zebras stand together, alert, moving as one, living in family groups, foals ready to run within an hour of birth, their stripes telling each other apart as they graze and shape the land.
Different ways of surviving,
one shared space,
shared time.

The Blood Moon of September, a night when the sky felt alive. 07 / 09 / 2025

A Blood Moon happens only during a total lunar eclipse, when the Earth moves perfectly between the Sun and the Moon and the Moon passes fully into Earth’s shadow.
Instead of disappearing, the Moon glows red because sunlight bends through Earth’s atmosphere, filtering out blue light and leaving only deep shades of red and copper.
It’s the same effect that paints sunsets and sunrises.

During this eclipse, the Moon was completely inside Earth’s umbra, which is why it shifted into that stunning red glow: A full, total lunar eclipse.

@okonjima_nature_reserve 🇳🇦 🐆 parenting lesson - walk the line boy // Mama is fed up with her little boy who is teasing her up in the tree, and thus teaches him a little lesson to show who is boss. Her son is actually supposed to have his own territory by now, but he keeps on coming back to his moms territory and clearly loves hanging around in her trees. I am sure this might have been the last time he hangs around in the trees that belong to his mothers territory.
